Thai authorities have launched an investigation into beach clubs and restaurants in the Bang Tao area of Phuket Island over suspicions of illegal use of public land. The investigation is led by Rear Admiral Praphan Srisuvipoj and covers 34 properties: 16 commercial and 18 residential. The establishments under review include well-known venues such as The Wave Phuket, Ember Steak House, Maya Beach Club, Bud Haven, A-Loma Massage, Reggae Bar, Tiki Shack Bar & Restaurant, MAMBA, Yuuhi Beach Club, Beach Pig, Solis Beach Club, ALOMA, ALOMA Bang Tao, Blue Ocean Restaurant & Bar, Golden Fish, and Nomad Beach Club Phuket. Results of the inspection are expected in September. The commission will clarify all details without making hasty conclusions. A thorough review of land documents, plot boundaries, and collection of all necessary information is currently underway. Cases of boundary overlaps have been identified, requiring further study by the land department and forestry office. Additionally, agencies responsible for utilities and tax collection have been involved in the inspections. Preliminary findings show no illegal connections to the power grid; generators were likely used instead. Police and authorities are ensuring that property remains secure during the downtime.
