Accident at Kata Noi: Concrete mixer truck collides with three cars and crashes into a restaurant

On May 21, at approximately 1:30 PM, a road accident occurred on the descent to Kata Noi beach. The driver of a cement mixer lost control, leading to a series of collisions. First, the cement mixer collided with a taxi, then with a Coca-Cola truck, after which it crashed into the Red Lobster restaurant building. As a result of the accident, the taxi driver sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. Several other individuals involved in the incident received minor injuries. Surveillance cameras recorded the moment of the collision, showing the cement mixer hitting two vehicles and crashing into the restaurant, also striking a parked taxi. Motorcycles nearby were not damaged. Karon police have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident. The preliminary version of events suggests a brake system failure in the cement mixer. This accident occurred against the backdrop of general road accident statistics in Phuket. Since the beginning of the year, 64 people have died in traffic accidents on the island, which exceeds last year's figures.
